Arizona Opera's “Scalia/Ginsburg: An Opera by Derrick Wang

Composer Presentation and Opening Night Party Alumni Reception

On Saturday, September 26, 2026, the Phoenix Ivy Council is partnering with the Arizona Opera, the Harvard Club of Phoenix and the Yale Club of Phoenix to offer our members and their guests discounted tickets to the special Arizona debut of the critically acclaimed opera, Scalia/Ginsburg, composed by the prominent Harvard and Yale alumnus, Derrick Wang. The opera has been very popular, warmly praised and deeply beloved by its audiences and its namesakes, the late U.S. Supreme Court Justices Antonin Scalia and Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Welcome to the Supreme Court chambers as you have never seen them before, transformed into the stage for a comedic, high-stakes operatic battle where law, wit, and music collide. Scalia/Ginsburg is a clever and moving tribute to the extraordinary friendship between two of the most iconic Justices in American history. Though often in sharp disagreement on the bench, they shared a deep and enduring bond rooted in a mutual love of opera, fine dining, and travel. It offers a powerful reminder that disagreement and respect can coexist. As the opera suggests, “We are different, we are one.”

The Phoenix Ivy Council has worked with the Arizona Opera to offer the following special features that will make your evening more memorable, including: a potential private backstage tour, Pre-Opera Talk by the composer Derrick Wang, and an invitation to the Opening Night Party. This promises to be an outstanding event to connect in person with other alumni, while enjoying the opera offerings of one of our city's premier cultural institutions.

Please purchase your discounted tickets and register to the Opening Night Party in advance.
