Ambassador Barbara Barrett is CEO of Triple Creek Guest Ranch, a Montana Hideaway. As a member of the U.S.-Afghan Women’s Council, she founded Project Artemis, a training and mentoring program for Afghan women entrepreneurs at Thunderbird School of Global Management. Barbara is member of the corporate boards of RAND, Aerospace Corporation and Hershey Trust. She is also a Senior Fellow at the Pentagon’s Defense Business Board and a board member of the Smithsonian, Space Foundation and Center for International Private Enterprise.
Until January 2009, Barbara was U.S. Ambassador to Finland. Earlier, she was a Fellow at Harvard’s Institute of Politics, CEO of the American Management Association, President of the International Women’s Forum, Founding Chairman of Valley Bank of Arizona, Deputy Administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration and the last Vice Chairman of the U.S. Civil Aeronautics Board. She served on the boards of Raytheon, Piper Aircraft, Mayo Clinic, and Thunderbird. An instrument rated pilot, in 2009 Barbara was certified as an astronaut for flight on the Soyuz to the International Space Station.
