Arizona Business Forum Featuring Rick Hamada, Avnet CEO

Rick Hamada, chief executive officer of Avnet, Inc., will speak at the first Arizona Business Forum luncheon of the season, sponsored by the Harvard Business School Club of Arizona on September 22, 2011, from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Phoenix Country Club, 2901 North 7th Street in Phoenix.

Cost of the luncheon is $25 for members and $30 for non-members.

Mr. Hamada was named Avnet Chief Executive Officer in February, 2011, effective July 4, 2011. As CEO, and was concurrently elected to Avnet's Board of Directors. As CEO, he is responsible for the strategic direction of the company and overseeing day-to-day operations. He also leads the Avnet, Inc. Executive Board.

During his presentation, Mr. Hamada will give an overview of Avnet and its key enterprise strategies. He will put special emphasis on value based management and how Avnet uses this disciplined approach to manage and invest in profitable growth that increases shareholder value.

He was named chief operating officer (COO) in 2006 and was promoted to president and chief operating officer in May, 2010. As Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Hamada was instrumental in enhancing Avnet's performance and values-based culture of excellence, while helping Avnet achieve superior results.

He holds a B.S. degree in Finance from San Diego State University where he is on the Board of Directors of its College of Business Administration.
