Harvard Issues Forum: Other Arizonans and the Supreme Court

Join us for a luncheon and presentation by Justice Scott Bales of the Arizona Supreme Court

Many recognize that Arizona had a distinctive presence on the U.S. Supreme Court through the careers of Justices Sandra Day O’Connor (1981-2006) and William H. Rehnquist (1972-2005).  This luncheon presentation, by Justice Scott Bales of the Arizona Supreme Court, however, focuses on other Arizonans and describes our State’s long connection to the Court and its development of the law.  Among other things, you will hear about Arizona’s first woman (not Justice O’Connor) at the Court, our brief naval war with California, why Arizona is responsible for televised lawyer advertising, and how we almost had three Arizona justices at the same time.
