symphonyHarvard Night at the Symphony

Cocktail Reception and Concert

Join us for light hors d'oeuvres and remarks from Phoenix Symphony's CEO Jim Ward and Virginia
G. Piper Music Director Tito Muñoz as they provide brief backgrounds of the Symphony's current
and planned musical offerings, and a description of the night's concert.  Cocktail reception is at 6 PM in Portal 9.

Followed at 7:30 by the first symphonies of Leonard Bernstein and Johannes Brahms, conducted by Virginia G. Piper Music Director Tito Muñoz. Leonard Bernstein once exclaimed, “The work I have been writing all my life is about the struggle that is born of the crisis of our century: a crisis of faith.” With the “Jeremiah” Symphony, Bernstein began a musical exploration of his religious faith that would inspire many of his serious compositions. Johannes Brahms experienced his own crisis while composing his monumental First Symphony – that of escaping the shadow of Beethoven. Experience how these struggles gave way to two modern classics with Tito Muñoz and The Phoenix Symphony. Please join your fellow members of The Harvard Club of Phoenix and The Harvard Business School Club of Arizona along with our Ivy Council guests for this enjoyable evening. The Symphony has graciously offered attendees a discounted ticket price for the concert following the Cocktail Reception.

Two registrations are required:  One for the symphony, and one for the cocktail reception.
